Bahasa

We live in a multilingual country. There are many tribal languages that can be found in this country. To show the unity we stand, we have Bahasa as a national language. A moment in a meeting in my religious event, Pak Sarwono Kusumaatmadja said that it was important for us as Indonesians to master Bahasa. By mastering Bahasa, it will help us to learn other languages easier, not only in written form but also in oral. However, the
awareness to use Bahasa is so difficult, especially for them who live out of the Java island. Even more for our friends that are (for an example) tionghua descents who more fluent speak in Chinese, whether it is Mandarin, tiochiu, hokkian, khe and so on. When there was a national religious event, the problem of language was sticking out as a problem in communication that had terrible effects. The bad one, this problem happened in young generation. In REACH (REady to tAke the CHallenge is one of religious events in Buddha Dharma Indonesia for youngsters that is like a summer camp, usually hold during the holiday moment in the end of June in Megamendung), such this problem made some of them were isolated from the wide association, included the chances to speak out in a forum and do interaction with the lecturers during the classes in REACH. In conclusion, it is important for us as Indonesian youngsters to master Bahasa although some of us are learning foreign languages in certain purposes.
