Yesterday, my friend invited me to her new opening coffee shop. This is her third coffee shops. She said business has been well from this sector. Every day, people come for drink, hang out or just to spend their time after working all day. She told me a little bit about coffee shop, about the menus, and the interior design. She told me that there are many kinds of coffee shops from all around the world. So I want to know more about coffee shop. Moreover, she gave me a book about it. She said that book can explain more details about the different kinds of coffee shops. From that book I knew that coffee shop had been appear from long time ago with different characteristics. For example, in Europe in the 17th century, in England in 1650 and in London 1652, the coffee shops appeared for the working classes, where business can carry on. It also as a place for relax and as a pub. There were 551 coffeehouses in London now. In Italy, a cup of coffee can be a piece of art .Italy people serve coffee with tiramisu, cakes and cookies. Italy people prefer read, do their work, meets friends in the cafes rather than any places. So Italy’s coffee shops have their own character as a place. Next, Cafés in US provide live music for guests. Café is the different name from coffee shop. But in the 1960s to mid 1980s they used coffee houses for outreach. In brief, cafes in outdoor section with seats, tables and parasols are the most favorite one. Beside coffee or alcohol beverages, there have menus for food items like pastries. From US to France,  in France, the coffee shop that serves meals is named a brasserie. We can order sandwiches and many more meals there. Next, people in China go to the coffee houses just for show and status, because coffee prices in China higher than in West. But in Malaysia and Singapore at breakfast time their go to the coffee shops for order melted chocolate drink, egg, toast, coconut jam, tea and many more. Furthermore, in Arab we can watch TV, play chess and smoke sisha in the coffee shops (ahwah), But what about in Indonesia?. We can find many characteristics coffee shops in our country. Indonesian people, especially Pontianak people like on line at the coffee shops, because here in Pontianak the coffee shops provide hotspot for the customers, where they can drink coffee while they do on line. Moreover, there are also coffee shops which have small libraries. The perfect place where we can read books or magazines without anyone distraction, or where we can read while we were waiting someone. Finally, I hope in the future, there will be more many coffee shops with different kinds of characteristics, which can make the customers feel comfortable.
